What is StreetPainter?
StreetPainter is an Android app that turns walking into a map game. As you walk, the streets you cover get painted onto your personal map, revealing your city like fog of war and tracking how much of your district, city and region you've explored.
How does it paint streets?
Start a walk and StreetPainter records your GPS path, then matches it to the real street network and fills in each segment you actually walk. Only the roads under your feet get painted.
Is it free?
Yes. Painting streets, your distance stats, discovery points, friends and leaderboards are all free. An optional premium subscription unlocks extras like deeper history, map time-lapse and cosmetics.
Is this like Fog of World or CityStrides?
It sits right between them. Like Fog of World it reveals a map as you move; like CityStrides it tracks street completion — but StreetPainter adds progression, discovery points, friends and leaderboards on top.
Does it drain my battery?
StreetPainter tracks efficiently in the background during a walk and stops when you do. For best results, allow background location and exclude it from battery optimization so a walk never goes unrecorded.
What platforms is it on?
StreetPainter is available now on Android via Google Play. (iOS isn't available yet.)
